Capture the context
Identify the recorder and the sensor or interface mentioned by the alarm. Describe any recent replacement, maintenance, power interruption, or configuration change already known to the onboard team. Note whether other bridge displays report a related issue.
Protect records and evidence
Do not erase, overwrite, export, or redistribute recordings through this website. Where an incident may be involved, follow the vessel operator’s preservation procedures and responsible authority instructions. Ask the desk for an authorized data-handling route before transferring recordings.
Define the requested result
Separate diagnosis or repair from an annual performance test or certificate. Ask who is authorized for the exact model and task, who will review the evidence, and who will issue any required document. Restoration of a displayed status alone does not establish an annual-test outcome.
IMO states that the VDR annual performance test must be performed by an approved testing or servicing facility. An ordinary repair report should not be presented as that annual-test certificate.
