Separate the system from the component
A system may include a display, processor, sensor, power unit, and interface modules. Identify which component shows the symptom and list the other connected units if already documented. A photograph of an accessible label can help once a controlled upload route is agreed.
Keep identifiers exact
Copy manufacturer, full model suffix, serial number, and any part number exactly as shown. Software versions should be taken only from ordinary user information screens or existing records. Similar-looking equipment can have different hardware or configuration requirements.
Do not guess an unreadable number
Write “unknown” and explain where the information is missing. Ask the desk whether an existing invoice, service report, or installation drawing can establish the identity. Do not interrupt a watch or enter restricted spaces just to complete an inquiry.
